Where It All Began
Té Valencia was born from a simple frustration: the tea available in most shops bore little resemblance to the remarkable cups we had experienced during travels through Asia's tea-growing regions. That gap between what was possible and what was accessible became our founding mission.
In 2012, we opened our doors on a quiet street in Valencia's old quarter, stocked with carefully selected teas from estates we had visited personally. The idea was unconventional at the time. Spanish tea culture revolved largely around teabags and convenience. We believed there was an appetite for something more.
Our Philosophy
We believe that quality tea is not a luxury reserved for special occasions, but a daily pleasure that elevates ordinary moments. A well-prepared cup of tea in the morning can set the tone for an entire day. An afternoon tea break can restore focus and calm. Evening tea can ease the transition from work to rest.
This belief shapes everything we do. We seek out teas that reward daily drinking—teas that remain interesting over repeated cups, that reveal new dimensions as you become familiar with them. We avoid one-dimensional novelties in favor of teas with genuine depth and character.
Direct Relationships
Most tea passes through multiple intermediaries before reaching consumers, each step introducing opportunities for degradation and cost inflation. We work differently. Our relationships with tea growers are direct and personal. We visit estates during harvest seasons, taste alongside producers, and select specific lots rather than accepting blended bulk shipments.
This approach requires more effort, but the results are worth it. We can trace every tea we sell to its specific origin. We know the elevation of the gardens, the variety of the tea plants, the processing methods employed. This knowledge allows us to guide our customers toward teas that match their preferences with unusual precision.
Commitment to Education
Great tea deserves understanding. We invest significantly in educating our customers—not to create tea snobs, but to help people appreciate what they are drinking. Our staff undergoes extensive training in tea origins, processing methods, and preparation techniques. This knowledge transfers to every interaction we have.
Our Tea Ceremony Experiences and Masterclass Workshops extend this educational mission. We find that once people understand the journey their tea has taken and the craft involved in its creation, their appreciation deepens immeasurably. What was once simply a beverage becomes a connection to traditions, places, and people spanning the globe.
